DUTIES:
Tour of Duty: Monday-Friday - 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with possibility of some weekend and/or evening hours.

Thi! s position is located in the Mental
Health Service of the VHA St. Louis Health Care System. The incumbent will work
within the Homeless Patient Aligned Care Team (H-PACT) of the Homeless Program.
This internist will provide direct care and
treatment to veterans in the Homeless Program. The incumbent is expected to provide high quality
and efficient care and be able to work well in an interdisciplinary team
setting. Interest and/or experience in caring for patients with mental illnesses and/or substance abuse will be an asset. This team will provide low-barrier access to services, including walk-in services and the ability to provide limited services in the community.
The VA
maintains an electronic medical record and all staff contribute directly into
the record. Position may also provide education and training to residents,
medical students, and clinical staff. Academic affiliation with St. Louis
University School of Med! icine is possible. Reciprocal cross-coverage for colleagues on vacation! /leave is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
1. U.S. Citizenship.
Non-citizens
may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in
accordance with VA Policy.
2. Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
3. Current, full, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
1. Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
2. Educational experience plus clinical and/or research experience to qualify for an academic appointment at St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
Salary determination is conducted by compensation panel based on qualification per VA Handbook 5005, Part II! , Appendix G2.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Physical requirements of this position include the following tasks which may be performed intermittently: lifting of up to 10 lbs., sitting (4 hours), standing (2 hours), walking (2 hours), bending/stooping (1 hour), twisting (1/2 hour), simple grasping (4 hours), fine manipulation (6 hours), reaching above the shoulder (1/2 hour), and operating machinery (1/2 hour).
