English Language Proficiency required. DUTIES:
The incumbent would work in the Community Living Center (CLC) and Geriatrics-Patient Aligned Care Team (Geri-PACT) doing geriatrics consultations and longitudinal primary care for a geriatric population with complex clinical needs and geriatric syndromes. The CLC (a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in a long-term care setting) includes a geriatric evaluation and management unit as well as rehabilitation, skilled care, palliative care and hospice. The incumbent will be expected to perform clinical care of older patients with multiple complex health problems in a long-term care setting and undertake academic ac! tivities to supervise/teach geriatrics fellows, medical residents, Nurs! e Practitioners and trainees in other health-related disciplines. The individual is expected to collaborate with the Associate Chief of Staff and Medical Director, CLC, in maintaining quality assurance activities. The incumbent must be able to work collaboratively with other health care disciplines, especially nursing. Experience in a skilled long-term care setting as well as outpatient clinics taking care of a predominantly geriatric population is required. On-call responsibilities in the CLC will be proportionally shared with other full-time physicians in theService.
T our of Duty: Full-time, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday. However, physicians are on-call 24/7. On-call dutes in the CLC will be shared with other full-time physicians.
Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.
Duty Location: Jefferson Barracks Division. However, the duty location may be changed to one or multiple associat! ed VAMC locations within the metropolitan St. Louis MO area based on the needs of the medical center.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Citizen of the United States or authorization to work in the United States.
Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of an accredited PM&R residency, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
Must pass a pre-employment physical, which may include drug testing.
Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C! . 7402(d) and 7407(d).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Boa! rd Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine is required.
Board Eligibility or Certification in Geriatrics or Palliative Medicine is required.
Must be qualified for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or higher at a University.
Must be cleared through Special Agency Check and National Agency Check with Inquiry.
GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
Salary determination is conducted by compensation panel based on qualification per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G2.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Physical requirements of this position include the following tasks which may be performed intermittently: lifting of up to 10 lbs., sitting (4 hours), standing (2 hours), walking (2 hours), bending/stooping (1 hour), twisting (1/2 hour), simple grasping (4 hours), fine manipulation (6 hours), reaching above the shoulder (1/2 hour), and operating machinery (1/2 hour).
